Description: Sabine is 18 years old and still goes to school. While at school, her mother receives a letter from the principal. The letter states that her daughter ‘has been absent without leave on a number of occasions. Furthermore, she has caused trouble in class. I would suggest that you meet me to discuss. The Principle.’ When the mother finished reading the letter, she decides to that her daughter needs to learn a lesson. When Sabine comes home that evening her mother awaits in the corridor. Over her right arm she holds a thick nylon anorak and in her left hand she holds the letter. She reads the letter to her daughter and tells her that she will be punished. She tells her in a strong voice ‘Strip down to your panties.’ Sabine looks at her mum, but without hesitation, she takes her clothes off. Her mother holds open the nylon jacket and Sabine puts it on. The mother then closes the zip and pulls the hood over her head. What Sabine didn’t know was that her mother had replaced the strings of the hood with a small chain. This way she can lock the hood with the chains to the zip and secure it. Now Sabine cannot take off the nylon jacket. Her mother says to Sabine: ‚so my little darling, you will wear this nylon jacket fort he rest of the day and all through the night. I do not want to see you in the apartment. You will spend the next two weeks in the attic. I will take the anorak off when you go to school in the morning and when you come back home I will put you back in it. You will go to bed wrapped up like a mummy in a body bag. If your behavior in school doesn’t improve, I will increase the level of the punishment. For instance, I will add a woolen hat over the hood and wrap a woolen shawl around your neck (it’s 30 celsius in the summer). You will only leave the attic to go school. While your friends enjoy themselves at the swimming pool, you will be wrapped up in the attic.’ When she hears all that, Sabine starts crying and begs her mother ‘please, please don’t keep me two week in a jacket in the attic. It is too warm.’ ‘You should have thought about that earlier.’ Her mother ties a chain around Sabine’s neck and leads her to the attic. The only items there are a desk, a table lamp, a chair and a kind of bed. There was no TV or radio. She cried terribly, tears running down her cheek. Her mother leads her into the room, takes the chain off and locks the door behind her on the way out. When Sabine needs to use the toilet, she has to almost scream. In the evening, her mother comes in with a think body bag and ropes. Without a word, her mother opens the body bag on the bed and says: ‘so my love, in you go for the night.’ Sabine started crying. But her mother grabs her by the arm and pulls her to the bed. ‘Lie down’, she demands. Sabine lies down on the body bag. Her motehr double checkst he hood and the zip of the jacket and closed the body bag. She says ‘so you do not escape from the body bag, I will tie you down to the bed with these ropes.’ Sabine protests as well as she could. Her mother just responds ‘if you don’t shut up, I’ll gag you. Sabine continued to cry while her mother ties the ropes. The next morning Sabine’s mother came in and takes off the ropes and opens the body bag. She ties a chain around Sabine’s neck and opens the lock of the anorak. Sabine is allowed to take a shower, brush her teeth and get ready for school. When Sabine gets home from school around midday, her mother awaits her in the corridor. Again she must strip down to her underwear and is locked in the thick nylon jacket. Her mother asks what has been the subject at school and of she has any homework to do. She answers that she has math exam in the morning. Her mother tells her that she will come to the attic and practice with her later. In the afternoon her mother practiced math with Sabine until the evening. Then Sabine is zipped up the body bag and tied down to the bed. If you fail your exam, I will add a pair of ski pants, moon boots, and the thick red jacket from YETI, the woolen hat and the long woolen shawl. The next morning she is awoken to go to school. When she comes back at lunchtime, she is asked by her mother how the exam went. She answers that the exam didn’t take place as the teacher was off sick. The next day, while Sabine is at school, the Telefone rings at her home. It’s the math teacher from the school informing the mother that Sabine had written an E and her progress to the next year is in jeopardy. So Sabine lied to her mother. Her mother was not only disappointed, but outright angry. When Sabine opened the door that afternoon, her mother gave her a right smack in the face. Sabine started crying instantly. ‘Your math teacher called to inform me that you flunked the exam and you may not make the grade’. Sabine hoped the earth would swallow her up. When her mother tells her that she will make true on her warning yesterday, Sabine turns pale. Her mother takes her by the arm and leads her to the kitchen where all the stuff she needs lay ready. Sabine had to strip off her clothes and her mother hands her the thick ski trouser. Put it on, says the mother, and Sabine did. When her mother hands her the moon boots, Sabine voices her protest. Mother gave her another smack and tells her to put them on. Crying, Sabine obliges. Then her mum handed her the red thick anorak, which Sabine put on. Her mother pulled the zip up to her chest and tightened the lower lace. Then her mother put a thick woolen hat on Sabine’s head and also wrapped a woolen shawl around her neck. Then her mum pulled the thick hood of the anorak over the woolen hat and closed the zip completely until under the chin and also pulled the laces of the hood tight. On Sabine’s forehead were the first drops of perspiration. Then her mum put thick mittens on Sabine’s hands. So Sabine. Says mother, because I could use the chains with this anorak, I will have to tie your hands and arms with rope behind your back, so you cannot take off the anorak. Sabine was now rendered completely helpless, unable to do anything on her own. She couldn’t turn the page of a book, or eat, so her mum fed her.
